Registration for the MP MotoEstate 2023 Trophies is officially open. Let’s take a look at all the categories at the start.
The cost of registration for the 2023 MotoEstate Trophies is quantified at 400.00 euros if paid by 28 February 2023. After this date it will increase to 500.00 euros. The organization has made various registration packages available, valid until December 31, 2022. All the information is available HERE.
The thirty-seventh edition of the MotoEstate Trophies will kick off on April 23 from Riccardo Paletti of Varano de Melegari, with the first of the five scheduled rounds. The race program will remain unchanged for the longest running championship in Italy: optional and paid free practice on Saturday morning and official practice in the afternoon. The second qualifying session will take place on Sunday morning and, from the afternoon, at the start of the races.
These will be the categories at the start.
New Entry: the Twins Cup
Let’s start with next season’s new entry: the Twins Cup. In fact, the category reserved for light twins that are so appreciated all over the world will arrive in Italy and in MotoEstate. The goal of SH Group and MC Ducale is to propose a grid within which different vehicles, brands and preparers can be compared. And enhance the combination of technical and sporting content to the maximum.
The category will be open to all two-cylinder bikes from 600 cc to 750 cc, four valves and up to 800 cc two valves, prototypes or stock. Space therefore for the RosMotos or vehicles of other preparers that use Suzuki or Kawasaki engines and means of production such as Ducati Monster 600, standard Suzuki, the Patons and the latest arrivals Aprilia RS 660, Yamaha R7 and MT 07.
The technical regulation is still being developed, to allow those with less power to fill the gap and will be made available shortly.
1000 Sound of Thunder: the beginning of a new era
2023 will herald the beginning of a new era for the premier 1000 Open class. And the first novelty concerns the change of denomination: 1000 Sound of Thunder. There will also be some changes to the substance of the class, with the introduction of separate leaderboards for V2 and V4. Prototype or derivative bikes, twin-cylinder bikes with displacements from 1000 to 1400 cc will be able to participate in the V2. The V4, on the other hand, envisages the participation of derivative motorcycles with Super-Open regulations from 1000 to 1300 cc. As always, the choice of rubber will be free. The only limit will concern the maximum number of tires to be used during a race weekend which will be limited to four, to keep costs low as per the philosophy of the MES Trophies.
The 1000 Stock, however, remains unchanged, which will race within the 1000 Sound of Thunder, with a dedicated ranking. The category will continue to be Dunlop mono-tyre. Riders will be able to choose between D213 or KR slicks.
The 600 Open will also follow in the footsteps of its “big sister” and thus become the 600 Sound of Thunder. Within the 600 class, series-derived motorcycles or prototypes from 600 cc, 4-cylinder up to 955 twin-cylinder series-derivatives such as the Ducati V2 can race. The Big Supersport, now Next Gen SS, has therefore also been reconfirmed, which will allow teams and riders to line up two-cylinder bikes up to 955cc and three-cylinder bikes up to 800cc.
Those who want to participate in the 600 Stock can only do so with road-derived bikes from 4 cylinders up to 600cc and with Dunlop tyres, with the choice of tire at the rider’s discretion.
The 600 Stock will take place within the 600 Sound of Thunder and will have a dedicated classification. The maximum limit of tires allowed for a race weekend will also be in force for the 600 class, limited to four.
Moto4: the entry level category is now also open to 150 cc engines, as in Spain
Some small changes will also affect the Moto4, an ideal category for young riders who want to approach the racing world without putting too much strain on their parents’ shoulders and pockets. The technical regulation (available soon) will be armored as usual, with the aim of keeping costs low. From 2023, however, 150cc engines will also be allowed, such as those used in Spain, up to 250cc, single-cylinder. The category is also open to Aprilia 250.
All unchanged in the other categories, increasingly participated thanks to the stability of the regulations.
The 125 SP e Open will as usual be open to all 125s built from 1988 onwards and still on the market. So the legendary Cagiva Mito, Aprilia RS, Gilera SP 01 and 02, Yamaha TZR are at the start. The 125 class includes two classifications (SP and Open) based on the preparation of the vehicles. Also in 2023 we will race with free rubber.
Also at the start of the thirty-seven edition of the MES Trophies are the legendary Supermonos, single-cylinder handcrafted motorcycles of small and medium cubic capacity that are fun and economical and which allow trainers to show off their talent. Within the Supermono class there will be two categories, the Supermono 450 and the Open. In the first, single-cylinder engines up to 450 cc 4-stroke and 250 cc 2-stroke are permitted. The engine must be from production or available on the market (processing prohibited). Prototypes such as Premoto3 and Moto3 are also admitted and could therefore be an ideal category for young riders involved in the national championship to train on technical and medium-long circuits. In the Supermono Open the maximum volume is 800 cc (without tolerance), freely elaborated or built as prototypes. The only limit is that they are single-cylinder, 4-stroke, with a single piston and a single combustion chamber and with normal intake. The category will be Dunlop mono-tyre with a maximum of two sets of tires allowed per race weekend.
In 2022, the 300 SuperSport was the spearhead of the MES Trophies: with an average of 35 entries per race, the young riders started incredible battles. And also for next season we expect spectacular tussle.
Naked motorcycles confirmed
The Naked was also reconfirmed, returning to the MES Trophies in 2022. The category is reserved for all naked bikes (semi-faired motorcycles) from 600 to 1300 cc. The motorcycles admitted are very different from each other, especially as regards engines and power. To make the grids homogeneous, it was therefore decided to draw up different classifications based on the power of the bikes. The category will be run under Dunlop mono-tyres with the GP Racer D212 or the D213 GP Pro.
Start racing with the Race Attack 600 & 1000
We conclude with what represents the gateway to the world of official competitions for all those riders used to taking to the track during free practice: the Race Attack. An entry level category, with affordable running costs that allows participants not to take away time and space from work and family. Only pilots with no experience in national and international contexts can participate in the Race Attack, so as to ensure balanced grids and maximum safety on the track. Both classes of the Trofeo Race Attack, 600 and 1000, run under Dunlop mono-tyres with the high-performance and economical D212 GP Racer M. Drivers can use a maximum of two trains per weekend, one of which must be purchased at the circuit . The technical regulation is Open for both classes and there are special categories: “Challenge” for those who finished outside the top seven positions in the previous season and “Rookies”, dedicated to rookies in the racing world. The Race Attack pilots have always offered the public exciting battles, having fun and in safety.
