DUNLOP CUP 2021 – ROUND 1-2 MUGELLO: BOSCOSCURO DOMINATED AMONG THE PRO, GUADAGNI AND CAVICCHIOLI IN THE ROOKIE CLASS.

Opening round of the 600 class at Mugello Circuit, site of the first two rounds of the Dunlop Cup 2021. The sprint race was in fact stopped at the fifth of the seven scheduled laps, with the stewards forced to display the red flag for liquid on the track at the curve “Mattresses”, probable cause of a series of falls. The ranking, referring to the order of arrival on the fourth lap, sees Travagliati Giordano in the lead; the rider of the Kawasaki MRT Corse & 2R team, being registered as a wild card, must renounce the points up for grabs which the second at the finish can instead Tocca Diego (team J. Angel Yamaha), able among other things to sign the best lap in 1’58.277. Lower step of the podium with a gap of just over 3 seconds for Ceccarelli Matteo, color bearer of the Alfonsi Racing Yamaha team.

Fourth Picciuto Riccardo (Yamaha EMC2 team), ahead of Besana Giorgio (Seven Yamaha team) and Cerullo Giancarlo (J. Angel Yamaha team) to complete the top 5 of the PRO category. Round 2 on Sunday, instead carried out without particular hitches, photocopied the order of arrival on Saturday as regards the first five positions: to get on the top step of the new podium Travagliati, able to detach the pursuers from mid-race and pass alone under the checkered flag. Touching Diego, despite a gap of more than 11 seconds, wins the duel with Ceccarelli for the place of honor and again wins the fastest lap with a time of 1’58.155. More late Picciuto, steadily fourth for all 10 laps in front of Besana. The ranking therefore sees Tocca at 56 points, followed at 43 by Ceccarelli, poleman of the weekend thanks to a time of 1’58.911. Third Picciuto at an altitude of 32.

Among the ROOKIES, Filippo Guadagni stands out in both heats: the Puntomoto Corse team rider is eighth in the overall ranking on Saturday and even sixth in that of Sunday. He also owns the 6 points relating to the fastest laps, thanks to the references of 2’02.098 in the sprint race and

2’00.180 in the final one. Excellent weekend for Paolucci Mattia: the athlete of the Kawasaki MRT Corse & 2R team gets the second place in the category in round 1 while he is fourth in round 2. Unfortunate Sighieri Niccolò: after setting the fastest lap in qualifying in 2’01.320 and having won the 3 additional points, the Alfonsi Racing team’s standard bearer was involved in the accident which resulted in the suspension of Race 1, even though he won third place as the ranking corresponding to the previous step was confirmed. Unfortunately, the damage to the R6 did not allow the Yamaha athlete to line up on the grid for a rematch.

The wild card Faraci Sebastiano (out in the first round) closes second followed by the Honda of Airoldi Fabrizio Stefano, who had finished in fourth position in round 1. The ranking reads 56 points for Guadagni, ahead of Paolucci and Airoldi, respectively at -23 and -27. Moving on to the 1000 PRO, we can speak of absolute domination for Andrea Boscoscuro: grabbed the pole position in 1’53.659, the rider of the MotoXracing Yamaha team hits the double and the fastest lap in both races. Indeed, the best lap in the second round is 1’53.499, the only driver to break down the wall of 54 in the race interrupted prematurely due to the oil left on the asphalt by the ducats of Zamblera Andrea. Identical podium in both races, with another wild Saltarelli Simone (Ducati TCF Team) author of two double places and Scienza Nicola (Skimoto racing team BMW) climbing on the last step of the podium in both challenges.

Crotta Elia takes his Honda CBR 1000 to fourth and fifth place, preceded in round 2 by Pelizzoni Diego (Primera Liebre Suzuki Team), good at improving the sixth place on Saturday. De Noni Fabrizio (Yamaha J. Angel Racing Team), fifth in the first match, retires on the first lap on Sunday and closes the weekend early. Seventh and sixth is the standard bearer of the Vuelle Racing Yamaha team Lotito Simone. Full score therefore for Boscoscuro at 59 points; 40 for Science, 29 for Crotta.

As for the ROOKIE 1000, it is Cavicchioli Massimiliano who makes the big voice: the BMW team driver Puntomotocorse is 11th and 12th overall in the competitions but is twice first in his category: he also signs the best time on Saturday with 1’57.831. Giacomelli Andrea (Team 100 HP BMW) has to be satisfied with the double place of honor, but snatches the pole of the weekend in 1’58.097 and Sunday’s best-lap in 1’58.134. Great performance for Peter Ennemoser: third and fourth place for the Team ST suzukist.

Reversed positions for Mugnai Lorenzo (Aprilia 999 Racing Team), at the foot of the podium on Saturday and third in the final challenge.

In the ranking, Cavicchioli looks at everyone from above with 53 lengths; second Giacomelli at 46, third Ennemoser at 29.

The Dunlop Cup awaits on weekend 4, 5 and 6 June at the “Piero Taruffi” racetrack in Vallelunga, theater of round 3 on the calendar, where we remember the assigned scores will be doubled!
