WOMEN'S EUROPEAN CUP 2022: : UPDATE TO THE CALENDAR AND GREEN LIGHT FOR PRE-REGISTRATION
Women’s European Cup prepares for that will be the third season of its history driven by the wave of success. Important news comes from the planning of the calendar, with an intense commitment by the organizer EMG Events, the FMI, the FIM Europe, Alpe Adria, the structure of the CIV and ESBK, in order to reconcile the availability of the tracks to the needs of the Championship. The cancellation of the Imola round is now certain, but replaced with a great new-entry outside the Italian borders; at the Rijeka circuit, the scene of a spectacular double challenge in 2021 and already confirmed for the next edition, the Valencia round is added!
If in the initial stages it seemed the Catalunya circuit intended to host the girls of the 300 on Spanish soil, today we can instead confirm that it will be the “Ricardo Tormo” Autodrome to open the doors to the women’s trophy; the circus will land in the Valencian Community in April, for a match characterized by a double round. To add prestige to the course a total of 9 Rounds in 5 different tracks.
In particular:
• 1/3 April, round 1 – Misano, “Marco Simoncelli Circuit” (in collaboration with CIV);
• 22/24 April round 2 & 3 – Valencia, “Ricardo Tormo Circuit”; (in collaboration with ESBK)
• 6/8 May round 4 – Vallelunga, “Piero Taruffi Circuit” (in collaboration with CIV);
• 24/26 June round 5 & 6 – Rijeka, “Grobnik Circuit” (in collaboration with AAFIM EUROPE);
• 29/31 July round 7 – Misano, “Marco Simoncelli Circuit” (in collaboration with CIV);
• 16/18 September round 8 & 9 – Mugello, “Mugello Circuit” (in collaboration with CIV).
These are the words of Max De Simone, Promoter of EMG Eventi:
“I can finally formalize the arrival of the Women’s European Cup in Spain! Thanks to the work of the Italian and Spanish Federations, we have achieved this enormous success, which is to bring our format to the Iberian Peninsula, which together with Italy represents the fulcrum of international motorsport activities. Initially we had an option on Barcelona Circuit, but logistical problems and availability of space did not allow us the trip in June; so we opted for Valencia in April, compensating with another internationally prestigious racetrack, which has been our goal since the beginning of the programming of the calendar. In addition to Valencia, we will then go for the second time to Grobnik, on the circuit of
Rijeka, so as to continue the collaboration with FIM Europe and Alpe Adria. The only displeasure is that even this year we will not compete in Imola: unfortunately it was not possible to guarantee a normal weekend in conjunction with the CIV due to the shorter days in October, and therefore we would have had many problems related to visibility. However, we managed to organize a Championship that will be characterized by 5 weekends on world-level circuits; girls, teams and staff are already in trepidation for what will certainly be another season of further growth in all aspects. This is proven by the pre-registrations already arrived, with almost all confirmations in addition to a numerous grafting of new
athletes very interesting. I remind everyone of the appointment for the Official Test of Misano on 23 and 24 March.”
EMG Eventi will be in fact the promoter of the tests at the beginning of the year on the Romagna circuit, scheduled for 23 and 24 March, with special sessions dedicated to 300cc motorcycles.
As regards the technical-sporting regulations, which will soon be available, it was decided not to make substantial changes but to continue along the path already traced, so as to transmit a sense of continuity and stability, and thus facilitate the work of teams and professionals. Also confirmed the extra point for the author of the pole position and best- lap of the race. The commitment of Dunlop, the unique tyre supplier for the championship,
is growing: from 2022 it will be possible to use the special D213 slick tyres.
It is already possible to pre-register for the Championship and secure the place directly at the website https://www.womenscup.racing/it/iscrizioni, while for the full registration you will have to wait for the 1st January 2022.
